Hello everyone! This is the first striping tape nail art tutorial! It is really easy and the creations you can make with the tape almost look professional. If you want to know how to make this design than click on read more!
As you may know, I received the striping tape about one week ago. This entire week I had no inspiration to make a nail art tutorial but yesterday I did! And this is what I came up with. The thing that is really important when working with the striping tape is that you need to pull the tape off when the nail polish is still wet. If it is dry already you will pull of the colour on top of the tape and the main colour. Another important thing is that the last tape piece you put on the nail, must be removed first. That means that the first tape piece you put on the nail, must be removed last. The products that I used for this design will be listed below.
Step 1: Base coat: This will prevent your nails from turning yellow.
Step 2: Main colour: For the main colour I used this beautiful swamp light green colour.
Step 3.1: The tape: Before starting to work with the tape it is important the main colour is dry. If not you will pull of that layer of nail polish when removing the tape. You can make any print you like. My design looks bit a like a flag print. The first step with the tape, is to make a cross. Make sure that the tape sticks to nail around the edges. Without doing this, the nail polish that will go on top of the tape will be drooping underneath.
Step 3.2: The next thing you want to do is stick a tape piece in the middle of the cross ( vertical ). Again push the edges down.
Step 3.3: Now this will be the last tape piece. You need to place this piece in the middle of the cross but horizontal this time. Again push the edges down!
Step 4: Top colour: For the top colour I wanted to stay in this green range so I decided to use a much darker green. Polish this colour over the tape just like you normally polish your nails.
Step 5: Removing the tape: When done polishing remove the tape immediatly. REMEMBER! The last piece of tape you have put on the nail, you need to remove first. In this case that will be the middle horizontal tape piece.
Step 6: Filling in: Before starting with the tape for the 2nd time, it is really important that the nails are dry! Otherwise you can start all over again. For this step you can choose whatever block you want to fill in with another colour. I decided to do the top right block. Try to tape it on top of the lighter green stripes. This will make sure that the colour is in the darker green block but precise/sharp. The colour I used for filling the block in was gold.
Step 7: Top coat: Finish the look off with the top coat. This will make sure that the next day ( when showing off your nails to your classmates ofcourse ) it still looks amazing!
